With the virus spreading and most aspects of life as we know them changing, how are we expected to navigate large life events such as pregnancy and birth? In a time when support is most needed, restrictions and fear of spreading the virus are limiting what the pregnant women are getting. Every doula is approaching this in ways they feel are best. These are the adjustments to my services: 1. I am now offering virtual doula services at a discounted price. I will help you craft a birth plan, email you a printable PDF file you can print and bring to your care provider/hospital/birth center. I am there to emotionally support you throughout your pregnancy as with my normal doula package. However, I won't be attending the birth. This package is useful for those wanting the pregnancy support of a doula but who are delivering in a location that does not allow additional birth support in the birth room due to Covid-19. 2. I am still offering my regular doula package for those who are delivering in a birthing center. I am not currently willing to do hospital births. It is the responsibility of the client to contact the birthing center and midwife to make sure they are allowing doulas in the birth room and at prenatal appointments. 3. I still offer postpartum care. The amount of people in the home during my visit is discussed upfront and there shouldn't be additional guests (other than mentioned upfront) during my postpartum visit. I also will not be handling laundry/dishes other than bottles/clothes for the baby during the visit. I can still do light housecleaning and other postpartum help. This is to minimize my exposure and what I will be bringing home to my family. I feel that during this pandemic, pregnancy support is more important than ever. Whether through virtual support, or traditional care with a few tweaks, there is no reason for you to go through pregnancy alone.
